Within
the media and intellectual property field we represent several leading media
companies and trade organisations in Sweden in matters relating to both
traditional and new media formats. During the last few years we have, for
example, assisted:
the International
Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) in the high-profile trial
against the founders of The Pirate Bay;
TV4 (Sweden’s largest TV channel) in
litigation before the Swedish Supreme Court regarding the question of whether
commercial breaks during the television broadcasts of films amounted to an
infringement of the creator’s moral rights;
the Church
of Sweden in negotiations
with the collecting society BONUS regarding conditions for copying and
distributing the new edition of the Bible and hymn book;
Pressens Bild AB in a case before the Swedish Supreme Court
concerning whether the CEO was personally liable for defamation based on the
content of certain archived articles;
a number of newspapers in a series of
defamation cases, some of which have been among the most complex and publicised
cases in Sweden;
film and television companies in relation to the production of
films and TV series, as well as licensing, broadcasting and other exploitation
of rights related to such productions; and
the Swedish Textile and Clothing Industries Association (TEKO)
as well as several of its member companies, in matters regarding the protection
of copyrights, trademark rights, and design rights.
The practice group also assists businesses and other organisations in trademark
matters, both relating to the administration of trademarks and trademark
infringement and other similar actions.
